Cédric Diomède applique à ses oeuvres sur toile la fluidité du geste qu'il a longtemps appliqué à ses aquarelles. Empreint d'influences éclectiques, l'artiste puise son inspiration dans les oeuvres des grands maîtres de l'histoire de l'art classique, les récits et l'iconographie de la mythologique grecque, l'esthétique des contes russes ou encore dans la richesse du style Art Nouveau.

Le 6 janvier, jour de l’Épiphanie (Theophania en grec, ce qui signifie « Apparition de Dieu ») est un moment important en Grèce. Il donne lieu à une cérémonie très suivie dans les églises orthodoxes où les fidèles se jettent ensuite dans l’eau bénite pour un bain de purification. Les Grecs célèbrent ce jour-là la venue de Jésus sur Terre ainsi que le baptême du messie par Saint Jean-Baptiste dans les eaux du Jourdain.
Derrière l'apparence trompeuse d'une fête religieuse, l'artiste aime glisser des intentions où sensualité et érotisme se partagent la scène.

Imbued with eclectic influences, the artist draws inspiration from the works of the great masters of classical art history, the stories and iconography of Greek mythology, the aesthetics of Russian fairy tales, and the richness of the Art Nouveau style.

January 6th, the day of Epiphany (Theophania in Greek, meaning 'Appearance of God'), is an important moment in Greece. It gives rise to a well-attended ceremony in the Orthodox churches, where the faithful then plunge into the blessed water for a purification bath. On this day, Greeks celebrate the arrival of Jesus on Earth as well as the baptism of the Messiah by Saint John the Baptist in the waters of the Jordan. Behind the deceptive appearance of a religious celebration, the artist inserts intentions where sensuality and eroticism share the stage.
