Through the Pachyderme series, Hervé Piault takes a tender look at the agricultural world that surrounds him. The pachyderm - "thick skin" - accompanies humans in all their states. Composed of a video mapping installation, a textile work and black and white photos, the series aims to be a variation around this hard-skinned being, like the work he represents, sometimes shelter, sometimes open window on the intimate, sometimes faithful friend. In the photographic work that Hervé Piault offers us, a choreography is set up between two beings that everything seems to oppose, but whose interdependence underlines the unacknowledged fragility of the peasant world. Today more than ever, the agricultural world is torn between the desire to protect the soil and the health of the living, the injunction to produce more and less expensively, the feeling of guilt reflected by civil society and the administrative outburst. Finding his place to live from his passion without sinking is a permanent fight that the artist wanted to humbly salute.
